These new residences at IIT Kanpur are homes for members of the institute's community. The idea behind them is simple to state: living spaces that are comfortable to be in, and that bring people together.
Comfort first
A home is judged in ordinary moments: coming back at the end of the day, resting, sharing a meal. Comfort in those moments was the starting point.
A sense of community
Beyond the individual home, the residences are meant to foster a sense of community, the everyday contact from which ideas, and growth, can follow.
