NLC India Limited (NLCIL) is developing a 2,400 MW supercritical thermal power plant in the Sambalpur district of Odisha. Alongside the plant, it has proposed a 135-acre integrated Township and administrative complex, where the people who run the plant will live and work. The Township is targeted for completion by 2027.
A self-sufficient settlement
The Township is planned as the residential and working centre of the power plant. It is meant to be self-sufficient, so that employees and their families find what daily life needs within it. It will include:
- residential neighbourhoods
- Schools
- Healthcare facilities
- community centres
- recreational amenities
The administrative office
The administrative office is the working centre of the complex. From here, the operation, management and coordination of the plant will be run. Planning it as part of the Township keeps offices, homes and community buildings within one integrated layout.
Beyond the boundary
The Township is also expected to bring longer-term benefits to the Sambalpur region, through work, better infrastructure and trade for local businesses. For the families who move there, it will be a place to live, with Schools, Healthcare and recreation close to home.
