An integrated Township and administrative complex for NLC India's power plant in Sambalpur district, planned as a self-sufficient settlement where offices, homes, Schools and community buildings share one layout.

About the project

NLC India Limited (NLCIL) is building a 2,400 MW supercritical thermal power plant in the Sambalpur district of Odisha. Alongside the plant, a 135-acre integrated Township and administrative complex will be home and workplace for the people who run it and for their families. The Township, the administrative office and the infrastructure that serves them are planned together, with completion targeted for 2027 and a built-up area of about 92,000 square metres.

A self-sufficient settlement

The Township is planned so that employees and their families find what daily life needs within it. It brings together:

  • residential neighbourhoods
  • Schools
  • Healthcare facilities
  • community centres
  • recreational amenities

Offices within the town

The administrative office is the working centre of the complex, from where the operation, management and coordination of the plant will be run. Rather than standing apart, it is planned as part of the Township, so that offices, homes and community buildings sit within one integrated layout. Planning the two together lets one layout serve both the working day and family life. For the families who move there, Schools, Healthcare and recreation will be close to home.
