About the project
Paryavaran Bhawan, the environment building at Gomti Nagar in Lucknow, was designed by ARCH-EN DESIGN as a low, spread-out office set in its own garden.
Low and shaded
The building is kept to two storeys and wraps around open courts, so that offices get daylight and cross-ventilation from both sides. Its entrance is marked by a tall portal under a projecting roof, with a glazed stair behind, and the walls are finished in warm sandstone tones with deep-set windows.
A planted forecourt and paved walks lead up to the entrance, so that the building sits back from the road behind its garden.
