The collectorate and district offices for Udham Singh Nagar, Uttarakhand, planned on 350 acres as a low, white courtyard complex around landscaped spaces.
About the project
When Udham Singh Nagar became a district, it needed a headquarters to bring its offices together. ARCH-EN DESIGN planned the district headquarters complex on about 350 acres, with the collectorate at its centre and the other district offices around it.
Courtyards and linkages
The collectorate is a long, low building in white, broken by courtyards and joined by covered linkages, so that people move between offices in shade. A gateway tower with a pavilion marks the entrance, and the buildings sit back across open, natural ground.
The same team also designed the Vikas Bhawan for the district.
