Govindgarh Railway Station

Govindgarh is a small town in Alwar district, Rajasthan, on the railway line between Mathura and Alwar.

In March 2023 the Agra Division of North Central Railway appointed ARCH-EN DESIGN as architectural and technical consultant for six of its stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme: Kosi Kalan, Hodal, Bhuteshwar, Govardhan, Deeg and Govindgarh. For each, the work covers the feasibility study, master planning, urban design and engineering, and the technical feasibility report, detailed estimate and BOQ tender schedule for Phase I.

A landmark at a small scale

The station blocks are low and single-storey, in a deep red finish with pilastered fronts. Over each entrance rises a carved shikhara spire, which marks the station from the road. A covered footbridge crosses the tracks.

The forecourt

In front of the station, a paved forecourt gives space for pick-up and drop-off and a stand for autos. Along the line, the plan adds platform shelters, a second footbridge, shaded parking and planting.
