The signature project of the Rourkela Smart City: a command and control centre and a tribal museum, both inaugurated by the President of India in April 2026, and a city auditorium and convention centre with a round stage.
About the project
Rourkela One is the signature project of the Rourkela Smart City. Two of its three buildings are complete: the President of India inaugurated the tribal museum and the integrated command and control centre on 21 April 2026, and the auditorium and convention centre is still being built. It brings together three buildings with very different jobs: a command and control centre, a tribal museum, and a city auditorium and convention centre.
Three buildings
The command and control centre gathers in one building the city's information on traffic, emergencies and disaster response, together with the existing control room of the Rourkela Municipal Corporation.
The tribal museum is intended as the main public draw. It will hold collections on the tribal culture and heritage of Odisha, and a Hockey Hall of Fame is also planned on the museum site.
The auditorium seats about 1,500 people and has a round stage. It is equipped for both live performance and video, with changing rooms, stage lighting, curtains, a screen and projection, and acoustic treatment.
The project is being built for Rourkela Smart City Ltd. through EPIL.
