A Township for the 2×660 MW Jawaharpur thermal power project at Malawan, Etah, where residential clusters are held together by parks, shaded avenues and horticultural zones planned alongside the buildings.

About the project

The 2×660 MW Jawaharpur Thermal Power Project at Malawan, Etah, in Uttar Pradesh, needs a place for the community around it to live. Jawaharpur Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd. has planned a Township to accompany the plant, with homes and the buildings that serve them on one site of about 80 acres.

Homes and shared ground

The Township has two parts: residential clusters, and the buildings and spaces that serve them. The clusters are designed for comfort, accessibility and ease of everyday living. Alongside them are administrative buildings, recreational spaces and parking.

What holds the two together is the open ground: parks and community spaces, shaded avenues and horticultural zones. These are planned together with the buildings, giving the Township a balance of built and open space and giving its streets shade and green.

Built for the long term

Rainwater harvesting, energy-efficient lighting and ecologically sensitive landscaping are part of the plan. The buildings are designed to resist earthquakes, to be accessible to all and to respond to the climate. Long-term maintenance is considered from the start, since a Township like this has to work well for many years, for the plant and, just as much, for the daily lives of the people who live there.

ARCH-EN DESIGN is providing the complete Architectural and Engineering design, from Master Planning and Architecture to structure, Landscape and services.
