A seven-storey regional Headquarters for the Food Corporation of India in Lucknow, an L-shaped block on a squarish corner plot, with a curved structural element marking the entrance at the centre of its front.
About the project
The Food Corporation of India's regional Headquarters in Lucknow stands on a squarish corner plot of about an acre. The building is L-shaped, a form that uses as much of the plot as possible.
A curved centre
The centre of the facade is marked by a strong curvilinear structural element, flanked on both sides by straight facades. The contrast between the curve and the plain wings gives the building a clear and generous entrance.
Inside, the seven storeys hold offices for senior and middle-level executives and for general staff, with a conference room, computer room, Library and recreational hall. On the upper floors, officers' rooms are arranged according to hierarchy. The building was completed in 1996, with ARCH-EN DESIGN as Architectural and Engineering consultant.
