ARCH-EN DESIGN recently had the opportunity to develop a design proposal for the Dinosaur Fossil National Park at Bagh, Dhar District in Madhya Pradesh, a remarkable site spread across nearly 89 hectares containing dinosaur eggs, bones, and fossilized wood from the Mesozoic era. Our proposal envisioned the park as a world-class paleontological destination that seamlessly blends conservation, education, and eco-tourism while preserving the fragile fossil landscape.
The design approach focused on creating an immersive visitor
journey through geological time. Key elements included an iconic entrance
complex, interpretive pathways across fossil zones, immersive “time-travel
tunnels,” interactive learning galleries, and carefully protected fossil
display areas. The intent was to transform the natural fossil landscape into an
open-air museum where visitors, researchers, and students could experience the
story of Earth’s prehistoric past in an engaging and educational environment.
Sustainability and conservation were central to the concept. The
proposal incorporated eco-sensitive construction, controlled visitor movement,
fossil protection structures, and renewable energy systems to ensure minimal
impact on the fragile geological site while enhancing the visitor experience.
The vision and design approach were widely appreciated for their
sensitivity to the site and the narrative it carries. For us, the project
represents an exploration of how architecture and landscape design can help
reveal and celebrate the deep history embedded within the land.
A design exploration to transform fossil-rich terrain into an immersive paleontological and eco-tourism destination.
