A 100-admission medical college and 500-bed teaching hospital on a 104-acre site at Banda, planned so that outpatients, theatres, wards and emergency are closely linked both along each floor and between floors.

About the project

Rani Durgavati Medical College at Banda was set up by the Department of Medical Education, Government of Uttar Pradesh, for an intake of 100 students a year, with a 500-bed teaching hospital. The campus, of about 1,85,000 m² on 104 acres, was designed from the master plan through to its buildings. We were appointed in 2008; the campus was completed in January 2023.

A connected hospital

The hospital brings together the outpatient department, operation theatre blocks, hospital administration, wards and the emergency block. They are arranged so that related departments sit close to one another, horizontally along each level and vertically between levels, to keep journeys short for patients and staff.

The central sterile services department, laundry, kitchen and landscape were designed within the same commission. ARCH-EN DESIGN provided comprehensive Architectural, Engineering and Interior Design consultancy, including the structure and building services, with site supervision and quality control.
