200-Bed Super Speciality Hospital, Kanke

Central Coalfields Limited is building a super speciality hospital at Kanke, on the northern edge of Ranchi, for heart, lung and brain care. HLL Infra Tech Services (HITES) is the executing agency, and ARCH-EN DESIGN is its consultant for the architecture and building services. The work was tendered in 2026 at an estimated ₹299.99 crore, to be built in 21 months.

Three specialities under one roof

The hospital block rises from a basement and lower ground floor to six floors above ground. Outpatient departments for cardiology, cardiac surgery, neurology, neurosurgery, pulmonology and medicine sit together with their diagnostics: echo and TMT for the heart, neurology diagnostics, bronchoscopy for the lungs, and CT and MRI. Above them are the cath labs, an operation theatre complex with a hybrid theatre, ICU and HDU beds with relatives' waiting, and the wards.

Calm on the outside

A double-height entrance hall under a pitched metal roof marks the front. The upper floors are clad in pale stone with tall, narrow windows over a brick base, and a landscaped forecourt with stepped seating lets patients and families wait outdoors. Kitchen, laundry, pharmacy stores, mortuary and parking are kept below, in the lower ground and basement.

A residential block of two- and three-bedroom flats for staff, an electrical substation, water treatment and a sewage treatment plant complete the campus. The buildings are to meet an IGBC Gold or GRIHA 4-star standard.
