A 50-bed tertiary cancer centre within the grounds of the Civil Hospital at Ambala Cantt, planned so that medical, surgical and radiation oncology sit together under one roof.

About the project

The Atal Cancer Care Centre is a 50-bed tertiary cancer Hospital for the Government of Haryana. It stands within the existing premises of the Civil Hospital at Ambala Cantt, on a site of about 4 acres, and adds specialist cancer care to a Hospital Campus already in use.

Three disciplines, one building

The main idea is to bring medical oncology, surgical oncology and radiation oncology together under one roof, so that patients can move from diagnosis to treatment without travelling between institutions. Diagnostic and critical care support sits alongside them: radiology, pathology and an intensive care unit.

Care beyond treatment

The centre is planned for the whole course of an illness, from screening and diagnosis to treatment and palliative care. Nutrition, counselling and rehabilitation support patients alongside the clinical departments, and a team of volunteers is part of the plan to make each stay easier. A dedicated research wing gives the Hospital a place for work in oncology.

The building is rated GRIHA 3-star (provisional, June 2022). ARCH-EN DESIGN was appointed in 2017 as Architectural and Engineering consultant, working for HLL Infra Tech Services (HITES).
